Hearts Were Hearts

If hearts were hearts,
And heads were heads,
And hands were true to other,
Then who would hold my fickle hand,
In replacement of another?
If eyes were lips,
And looks were words,
How would my feelings hide?
For every time I’ve told him love,
I’ve lied and lied and lied.

Hi Kate, I really liked this poem. I haven't written poetry in a long time and it was a pleasure reading yours.

ahh, an update at last. and the wait is all worth it. this is brilliant! (and yes, rarely do i gasp a comment like that. ^_^)

after my first reading of it, i had a grin on my face. then, as i read it repeatedly, the grin turned into a solemn trace of a smile... of acknowledgement of reality -- the reality of lies. *sigh*

Very soft yet poignant words. Sometimes love deludes us and we love to believe it always.
